Voting Information

To register to vote in Washington State, you must be:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • A legal resident of the state of Washington
  • 18 years of age by the next election
  • Not under the authority of the Department of Corrections for a Washington felony conviction
  • Not disqualified from voting due to a court order

There are several ways to register to vote in Washington State:

  • Online (Washington State Driver’s License or ID required)
  • By mail (using a printed form found at libraries, schools, and government buildings)
  • In person (at the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office)

The deadline to update your voter registration is eight days before the election. The deadline for new Washington State voter registrations (in-person only) is Election Day.

To register to vote online – the quickest and easiest way! – visit the Secretary of State’s website.

To register to vote in person, visit the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office (Elections Division), located at 619 Division St., Port Orchard.

Ballots must be postmarked or in a ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. This year’s General Election is Tuesday, November 5, 2019, with ballots mailed by October 18, 2019.

Bainbridge Island’s ballot drop box will be located at the Bainbridge Island School District office (8489 Madison Ave. NE) beginning 18 days before the election. Drop boxes are open 24 hours a day until 8 p.m. on Election Day. For a full list of drop boxes, visit kcowa.us/vote.
